Apeel started with a question: How is it possible to have such an abundance of food growing, thanks to the dedication and efforts of so many incredible farmers, and yet so much of it goes to waste, and so many are still hungry? Inspired by nature’s own methods of preservation, we made it our mission to build a protective barrier that could be applied to fruits and vegetables using edible materials that could slow down the rate of spoilage. Since then, our mission has been to make better quality, more sustainable, and longer-lasting produce a reality - creating value throughout the supply chain, and a more abundant future for us all.
Longer-lasting Apeel produce doesn’t just create a benefit for those of us who enjoy fresh produce, but also those who grow and sell fresh produce. When we launched FruitStand, our vision was to connect the remarkable output of small-scale producers with those searching for high quality, and often less widely distributed crop varieties. FruitStand is a celebration of those who work with nature to bring abundance to all.
Our first opportunity to bring this celebration to life was in late 2019, starting with a harvest of longer-lasting Apeel-protected caviar limes from Good Land Organics. From that small experiment we saw that there was big interest and potential for even bigger impact. We decided to increase our efforts to help small-scale farms reach more consumers. Since then, FruitStand has blossomed into a vibrant online community of people who support small-scale farms and enjoy the bounty they create.
FruitStand offers another opportunity to share our obsession with nature and create a more abundant and participatory food system. Just think: the bigger the market we can create for small-scale farm produce, the bigger the impact we can make. That’s why we’re continually looking for ways to bring more Apeel-protected fruits and vegetables to FruitStand, and are committed to growing our community of farmers and partners to provide even greater value and quality.
The FruitStand membership club is a great way to be the first to hear about exciting new offerings from extraordinary small-scale producers, in addition to Apeel-protected produce. Among the experiences, you’ll often find our longer-lasting Apeel-protected Avocados from our favorite suppliers alongside incredible caviar limes from Good Land Organics.
