Black Sapote Bread

Due to its smooth, pudding-like texture, black sapote is a natural replacement for bananas in recipes. This black sapote bread recipe was adapted from a banana bread recipe and makes a beautiful loaf of not-too sweet, chocolate-colored bread. It's a perfect treat with your morning coffee, as a midday snack, or as a dessert at the end of your meal.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 ripe black sapote
  • 1/2 stick of butter, melted (equal to 1/2 cup)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
