Black Sapote Brownies

These decadent and rich brownies will excite your taste buds. The black sapote offers a rich dark color that gives these brownies the appearance of fudge. With the fruit's pudding-like texture, the texture remains smooth while its flavors naturally enhance the chocolate flavor of the brownies. We think you're going to love this one.


  • 1/2 cup butter or coconut oil
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup black sapote pulp—about 2 very ripe fruits, soft as a marshmallow, almost collapsing
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup flour or all-purpose, gluten-free baking mix
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
