"Alegre" is Spanish for Cheerful, which is exactly how you will feel after this intoxication yet refreshingly light cherimoya cocktail. Sometimes you just need a dessert drink, and this recipe will hit the spot!

Sweet cherimoya and freshly squeezed orange juice come together in this delicious dessert cocktail, which goes down quickly we must admit. So beware, you might be heading back to that kitchen to make another one once you have a few sips of this fruity drink! 

Cherimoya is perfect not just for dishes, but beverages too. The fruit is so creamy, rich and scoopable that it adds a whole other culinary dimension to this drink. It blends in with the citrus and adds a creamy richness that you’ll fall in love with!

This dessert beverage can be made into a cocktail with triple sec or made virgin without the triple sec. Either way, you’ll get a refreshing sip of sweet orange and creamy cherimoya with every sip! Make the dessert vegan by omitting the whipped cream.


  • 1 cherimoya peeled and seeds removed
  • ½ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 5 ounces triple sec (optional)
  • Dollop of whipped cream
  • Sprinkle of cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon chopped dates

Recipe Steps:

Prepare the cherimoya alegre:

  1. Slice the cherimoya lengthwise and remove the seeds with a knife and discard.
  2. Scoop out the flesh with a spoon and add it to a serving bowl or glass.
  3. Pour the fresh orange juice and triple sec, if including it, into the serving container.
  4. Top with whipped cream, a sprinkle of cinnamon and dates.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve these delicious drinks after dinner for a sweet treat or enjoy whenever just because! When is it not a good time for dessert….we think never!
