Lucky Granny

Even on St. Paddy's day it helps to be able to make your own luck!  While this recipe doesn't feature anything exotic fruit wise, we think it's the perfect pick me up to keep up the spirits and enjoy the holiday during these crazy times.

To get festive, we came up with a green granny smith inspired drink. If you love sweet and tart things, this drink will be a new go-to!

It’s made with apple liqueur and fresh granny smith apples so it’s like you’re biting into a juicy and delicious granny smith apple with every sip. Topped with freshly squeezed lime juice to enhance the granny smith tartness we all know and love!

If you got an apple lover in your life, you gotta introduce them to this drink!

Lucky Granny Recipe

  • Prep Time: 15 minutes
  • Servings: 2
  • Good for: contains alcohol, parties, gluten-free, vegan, mocktail option
  • Difficulty: easy

Our sweet and sour lucky granny is the perfect cocktail to serve up on St. Paddy’s day. Made with fresh granny smith apples and tart lime juice for real apple flavor! Make the cocktail a mocktail by omitting the apple liqueur and vodka and replacing both with 1.5 ounces of apple juice.

  • 1 granny smith apple
  • 3 ounces apple liquor
  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 2 ounces lime juice
  • 6 ounces sprite or more for taste

  • Cutting board
  • Knife
  • Salad serving bowl
  • Shot glass or jigger
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Two serving glasses

Recipe Steps:

Muddle the granny smith apple:

  1. Cut two slices of the granny smith apple and squeeze lime juice on them to prevent them from browning.
  2. Set them aside to garnish the drink for later.
  3. Dice up the rest of the granny smith and muddle in the cocktail shaker.

Prepare the drink:

  1. Add the apple liquor, vodka, lime juice and muddle the apple a bit more.
  2. Fill the shaker with ice and shake together well to chill everything.
  3. Pour into two glasses and top with sprite.
  4. Garnish each drink with the prepped apple slices - cheers!

Serving Suggestions:

If you want a more intense green color, add a drop or two of green food dye for extra St. Paddy’s day vibes and an extra pinch of good luck! Get super festive and rim the glass with green sugar for an all-out St. Paddy’s day drink in style.

Don’t feel this cocktail can only be served on St. Patrick’s day. It makes a great beverage for any party or gathering. Change up your usual go-to drink with our lucky granny and you may not go back!
