Next time you need a quick appetizer to serve people, give this Mediterranean guacamole with sun-dried tomatoes a shot. If you love zesty bold flavor, you’ll love this recipe.

Chunky guacamole made with cucumber and basil gives traditional guacamole a Mediterranean twist. The flavor change up with sweet basil is perfect with the creamy avocado.

This guacamole is topped with a trail of sun-dried tomatoes and crumbled feta cheese. The sun-dried tomatoes are blended up in olive oil to create a spoonable mixture and gives the guacamole delicious sweet-tart notes. Sprinkle feta cheese on top before serving for tangy, salty goodness and voila!

Mediterranean guacamole topped with a spiral of sun-dried tomatoes and olive oil is the perfect side dish or appetizer to serve alongside a spread of food. Topped with feta cheese to transform this guacamole into a delicious layered dip.


  • 3 large avocados
  • 1 cup diced cucumber
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup chopped basil
  • 3 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • ½ cup sun-dried tomatoes
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons feta cheese
  • Pita bread for dipping


  • Cutting board

  • Wide serving bowl

Recipe Steps:

Prepare the guacamole:

  1. In a mixing bowl add the avocado, cucumber, basil, lime juice, garlic and salt. Mash with a potato masher or fork until well combined.
  2. Taste for any additional seasoning like salt, lime juice or extra basil. 

Prepare the sun-dried tomato sauce:

  1. In a food processor add the sun-dried tomato and olive oil.
  2. Blend until the sun-dried tomatoes are finely chopped. Stop every so often to wipe the sides of the food processor to help the sun-dried tomatoes and olive oil blend together.

Serve the guacamole:

  1. In a wide bowl, transfer the guacamole. Swirl the guacamole to create divots for the sun-dried tomatoes and olive oil.
  2. Spoon the sun-dried tomato mixture over the guacamole into the divots.
  3. Top with crumbled feta cheese.
  4. Serve with pita chips or pita bread for dippings. 

Serving Suggestions:

Serve this guacamole up as a dip or appetizer at a gathering. Serve with pita bread, pita chips or chopped up veggies. Garnish with extra basil before serving! 

Add in more feta cheese if desired or mix all the ingredients together if not preparing for presentation.
