Pomegranate Guacamole

Festive guacamole? Don’t mind if I do! This guacamole has the best of both worlds - spicy and sweet. Sweetness from the pomegranate seeds and spice from the red pepper flakes and paprika. 

This upgraded guacamole will have you thinking twice about going back to basic guac. We’re all about a good classic guacamole with the fresh lime and cilantro, but this flavor combination knocks it out of the park. The burst of pomegranate and hint of spice awaken all the senses!

Not to mention, the crunch of the seeds gives this guacamole a whole new texture. You still have the fresh citrus and cilantro flavors but even more layered goodness is found in this recipe. Give it a shot as your new dip for chips or sandwich spread.

The best part of this recipe? It’s so easy! Mash all your ingredients in a bowl, and it’s ready to go. Grab your favorite chips, pita bread or veggies and bon appétit!

Pomegranate Guacamole Recipe

Colorful and flavorful is what we’re serving up in our festive pomegranate guacamole recipe today!

Ingredients:

  • 2 jumbo avocados pitted and scooped
  • 5 tablespoons lime juice
  • ¼ teaspoon salt or to taste
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • ½ cup pomegranate seeds
  • ¼ cup chopped cilantro
  • ⅓ cup diced onion

Equipment:

  • Cutting board
  • Knife
  • Serving bowl
  • Fork or potato masher
  • Bowl for mashing
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Spoon for scooping avocado

Recipe Steps:

Prepare the avocado and pomegranate:

  1. Slice the avocado in half lengthwise and remove the pit. Scoop the flesh out with a spoon and add to the bowl.
  2. Slice pomegranate in half and remove seeds in a bowl of water to prevent staining your clothes.

Mix the guacamole:

  1. In a bowl mash the avocado, lime juice, paprika, red pepper flakes and salt with a fork or potato masher.
  2. Stir in the chopped onion, cilantro and pomegranate seeds.
  3. Scoop guacamole into the serving bowl and top with additional cilantro and pomegranate seeds.
  4. Serve with chips, veggies, crackers or pita bread.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve this pomegranate guacamole during the holidays, game-day or have as a snack on hand. Turn it into a savory toast spread or add it as a topper to salads. It’s a great way to add a punch of flavor to a meal in just one dollop!

Create a festive chicken salad by mixing shredded chicken in with the guacamole to have as a sandwich or cracker topper.
