This vanilla bean whipped cream recipe is the perfect sweet treat topping. Easily prepared with just 4 ingredients and full of vanilla bean flavor!

You know those mornings when it's super hard just to get out of bed and get going? Well, once you try this vanilla bean whipped cream on your coffee instead of plain old creamer, your mornings will never be the same again.

This recipe couldn't be easier, and it is almost certain to please. You can also use this to top your favorite pie, cake, fruit, or hot chocolate.

Whipped cream works any time of the year as a fun way to add a dollop of sweetness. While it’s easy to make and doesn’t take long, it can be tricky in getting the right texture. One key to getting a light, airy consistency is to chill the bowl and whisk before making the whipped cream.

In this recipe, we want soft peaks, not stiff peaks. Soft peaks will hold their shape but still have movement compared to stiff peaks which hold their form tightly. The longer we whisk the whipped cream, the more likely it will get closer to stiff peaks.

The key is to not overbeat the cream. If you feel unsure about the texture, stop the mixer and check as you go.

So, let’s dig into the recipe! We’re using half of one vanilla bean to get the most natural and flavorful whipped cream we can get.

Instead of granular sugar, we recommend using powdered sugar as it dissolves quicker than granular sugar. Plus, you won’t get the crunch that is sometimes noticeable with granular sugar.

Our twist on classic vanilla is adding a dash of cinnamon. It adds just the right amount of spice and complements the vanilla wonderfully!

Vanilla Bean Whipped Cream Recipe

Rich and creamy, this whipped cream is a decadent topping for dessert, fruit or beverages. Made with real vanilla beans to provide the truest vanilla flavor.


  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 vanilla bean
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)


  • Standing mixer with a whisk attachment
  • Measuring cups

  • Cutting board
  • Knife

Recipe Steps:

Prepare the mixing bowl and whisk

  1. Chill the mixing bowl and whisk in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. 

Prepare the whipped cream ingredients

  1. Next, slice half a vanilla bean with a knife. Scrape the vanilla beans with the edge of the knife and add them to the mixer with the heavy whipping cream and powdered sugar.
  2. Mix on medium-high speed for 3-5 minutes or until soft peaks form. The whipped cream should be heavy enough to hang from the whisk and keep its form.
  3. Store in the refrigerator. When reserving, re-whisk the whipped cream for 10 seconds to add in air.

Serving Suggestions:

Add the whipped cream to warm drinks like apple cider, hot chocolate, chai tea, coffee or even cold beverages to add a rich, creaminess.

For dessert, place a dollop on top of pies, ice cream sundaes or fresh fruit.

Garnish meals like pancakes, waffles and oatmeal with a little whipped cream to add a touch of sweetness!
