When you’ve learned all you can from New York City, it’s time to relax back into your roots. For Josh that meant heading to Portland, Maine to start Cup of Sea, inspired by his heritage. His grandmother, Nanna K, who had emigrated to work in the shoe mills of Maine, used to snack dried dulse or algae seaweed, as was popular in the 1930s. Cup of Sea set out to build awareness of the historically snackable treat and a future market for Maine’s robust seaweed industry. You can see several kelp farms right from Portland’s working waterfront. Enjoy a cup of Josh’s nourishing sea tea.
