The Murray Family’s farming heritage is five generations deep, marked by a legacy of conservation practices, land stewardship and innovative agriculture. In the 1980s, Steven Sr. and Vickie Murray traded their Bakersfield home for a 20-acre table grape farm, nestled in the mountains of the San Joaquin Valley.
In the late 1980s, the Murray’s began experimenting with cherry tree cultivation and it took six whole years to harvest their first test cherries. These days, Steven and Vickie share management responsibilities of the farm with their son Steven Jr., a rare fruit connoisseur, whose passion for unique crops has contributed to the diverse array of produce offerings that Murray Family Farms boasts: over 3,000 varieties of fruiting plants and over 600 unique species.
