How to Store

Enjoy them when they’re ripe!

When your fruit arrives, they will be a mature green. As their color deepens and their skin becomes tender, they are ripening. They will take up to a week to be ready to eat! Once the fruit is soft and slightly wrinkly (maybe even a little overripe), that’s when you want to dig in! If you aren’t ready to eat them right away, you can store them ripe in the fridge for 3-5 days. Their tender pudding can also be frozen to be used at a later date.

A regional winter treat!

So what is a Sapote?

Sapote is a term used for a soft, edible fruit in Nahuatl tzapotl, which is why a number of fruit-bearing plants native to Mexico and Central America bear this term. We are lucky enough to partner with Serendib Farms in Florida, which is one of the only places in the United States you can get it from!
