Chef Gida created specialty recipes for a tropical lime parfait and lime bar to kick off the summer at Fruitstand. Taste what she whipped up in her local Kaua’i kitchen featuring her own Vanilla Culinary Syrup, graham flour from a small mill in Maine and Apeel limes.
Kaua’i vanilla syrup, refreshing, tangy limes, and hearty stone-milled grain make this Tropical Parfait and Lime Bar a delightfully sweet, citrusy dessert.
Apeel works with nature to reduce food waste and create abundance for all, by using materials that exist in the peels, seeds and pulp of all fruits and vegetables to create a protective extra peel that seals moisture in and keeps oxygen out. Produce stays fresh, nutritious and delicious for longer—which means less food going to waste throughout the supply chain—from farm, to store, to your home. Less waste in the supply chain and at home, means less waste for the planet and a more abundant future for us all. The limes in this offer come from Sicar Farms, a Fair Trade Certified farm in Mexico, that uses solar energy to power their facilities and operates with zero waste. Chef Gida is on a mission to uplift farmers, as well as support and mentor other women in the food production space, while celebrating diversity and the abundance of incredible ingredients grown in Hawaii. Gida’s culinary syrup is made from specialty vanilla beans from The Vanillery, a homestead family farm in Wailua, Kaua’i, and is small-batch crafted in the Slow Island Food & Beverage kitchen.
Our Head Forager, Nick, is always on the hunt for a traditional stone-mill producing fresh, heritage, artisanal flours. Their cold stone-milling process ensures nutrient-packed, flavorful flours. At Maine Grains they like to think of “eating as an agricultural act.”
