The Bautista Family is as dedicated to each other as their Organic Date Ranch. Three generations make this farm a family affair where everyone has a role to play. Enrique and Graciela are the first generation passing on the Bautista legacy to their children and their spouses.
As an organic farm the family is dedicated to bringing customers the freshest dates. They are untouched by commercial practices that would artificially alter the moisture content in the fruit. Served in their natural state, these dates are fresher than the dates you find at the market. They are dry on the outside and with a smooth inside texture, not gooey like a typical Medjool date.
The family’s Khadrawy (pronounced ‘ká-draw-ee) is Arabic for ‘green,’ and Halawy (pronounced hah-la-wee) is Arabic for ‘sweet.’ The Bautistas’ dates melt in your mouth like caramels. The Khadrawy is the most abundant date palm at the Bautista Ranch. They are super sweet and soft. The Halawy Date is buttery with caramel notes. Of course, the Bautistas recommend reserving a healthy portion of dates to be enjoyed as is, but they can also be used in smoothies, oatmeal, desserts, savory dishes, as well as frozen, for up to 5 years!
All produce is shipped direct from Bautista Family Organic Date Ranch using FedEx two-day shipping to guarantee freshness. Information on how to use, store and recipe ideas can be found by clicking here.
The Khadrawy & Halawy Dates are grown and shipped directly from Mecca, California
Your order is backed by our satisfaction guarantee. If you are not 100% satisfied, please contact us within seven (7) days of the delivery and we will make it right.
WARNING: Dates contain pits that are a choking hazard. Remove pits prior to eating and do not give whole dates to children.
The Bautistas recommend reserving a healthy portion of dates to be enjoyed as is, but they can also be used in smoothies, oatmeal, desserts, savory dishes and date butter.
Store your dates in a refrigerator or freezer, where they will keep well for many months. Air-tight storage (such as in freezer bags) helps keep your dates as moist as possible. You might like to remove the pit from some or all of your dates in advance, which makes it all the more convenient to grab a few for eating out of hand, adding to a smoothie, or chopping for a recipe. In cool weather, unrefrigerated fresh dates are usually okay for at least a few days. Keep them in a ventilated container away from sun, heat, and humidity.
This item will be shipping FedEx 2-Day air to anywhere in the US directly from California on the ship date indicated on this page and in your email receipt. There is a $9.00 flat rate shipping fee per box added to your order at checkout. You will receive an email with your shipment's tracking number when shipped.
Three generations make this farm a family affair where everyone has a role to play from hand-pollination to working the Southern California farmers markets. Enrique and Graciela are the first generation, passing on their legacy to the children and their spouses. Their family home is across the street from their Organic Date Ranch.
Enrique had farmed for 15 years before he suffered a difficult accident putting him in a wheelchair. His daughter shares that he “always looks at everything in a positive way.” He went back to being the foreman, modifying both the farm and his chair.
The Bautista family is proud of their 14 acre-ranch in Mecca, California. The ranch’s unique arid desert climate and mineral-rich soil is the perfect setting for their succulent dates. The dates on their ranch were grown organically for the last 100 years, though the Bautistas were officially awarded organic certification in 2002. They delight in the variety of dates and palms they plant on the land.
This was the first time I have tried dates, and both the Khadrawy and Halawy varieties are delicious. I had to move the box to the basement fridge to stop myself from eating them all, and they still went quickly, even with the extra trips up and down the stairs.
Great, very smooth silky texture
YAY! We're so happy you loved them, Shannon. Thank you for sharing your feedback with us :) ~Jenny
We are new to fruit stand and hesitated about buying dates. There are only 2 of us and it seemed a lot. We should have gotten the bigger box! They are immensely satisfying as a snack. We had a blast researching new recipes to try but my Grandma’s date bar recipe was our favorite. I thought we would be freezing most of them but they will soon be gone.
